How to Replace a Scentsy Warmer Bulb

Keep Your Warmer Glowing
If your Scentsy warmer has dimmed or stopped melting wax effectively, chances are it just needs a new bulb. Replacing a Scentsy warmer bulb takes about 60 seconds and doesn't require any tools. Here's everything you need to know.
Step 1: Identify Your Bulb Size
Scentsy warmers use specific bulb wattages depending on the warmer size:
- Mini warmers (plug-in): 15-watt bulb
- Standard full-size warmers: 20-watt or 25-watt bulb
Check the bottom of your warmer — there's usually a label indicating the correct wattage. Using the wrong wattage can cause under-heating (wax doesn't melt properly) or overheating (can damage the warmer or release fragrance too quickly).
Step 2: Get the Right Bulb
Scentsy sells replacement bulbs on their website and through consultants. You can also find compatible bulbs at most hardware stores — look for:
- 15W, 20W, or 25W candelabra base (E12) bulbs
- Clear or frosted depending on your warmer's design (clear for warmers where the light is part of the aesthetic, frosted for softer glow)
Step 3: Replace the Bulb
- Unplug the warmer and let it cool completely (at least 15 minutes)
- Remove the wax dish (if it sits on top) to access the interior
- Unscrew the old bulb by turning it counterclockwise
- Screw in the new bulb clockwise until snug — don't over-tighten
- Replace the dish and plug the warmer back in
- Test it — the light should come on and the warmer should begin heating
How Often to Replace
Scentsy bulbs typically last 3,000-5,000 hours. If you use your warmer 8 hours a day, that's roughly 1-2 years. Signs it's time to replace:
- The light is noticeably dimmer
- Wax isn't melting fully or takes much longer than usual
- The bulb flickers
- The bulb has burned out completely
Note: Element Warmers Don't Have Bulbs
If your warmer uses a heating element (no visible light inside), there's no bulb to replace. Element warmers are essentially maintenance-free on the heating side. If an element warmer stops heating, it may be a manufacturing issue — contact Scentsy's warranty department.
Keep Spares on Hand
Order a few replacement bulbs and keep them in a drawer. There's nothing worse than your warmer going dark and having to wait for a new bulb to arrive. Having spares means you can swap in 60 seconds and get right back to enjoying your fragrance.
