How to Set Up Your First Scentsy Warmer

From Box to Beautiful Fragrance in 5 Minutes
Just got your first Scentsy warmer? Congratulations — you're about to discover why millions of people love these things. Setup is incredibly simple, but here's a step-by-step guide to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Step 1: Unbox Carefully
Scentsy warmers are ceramic, so handle with care. Remove the packing material and check that you have:
- The warmer base
- The wax dish (may be attached or separate)
- A light bulb (for bulb-style warmers)
- Power cord (for tabletop warmers) or plug (for mini warmers)
Step 2: Install the Bulb (If Applicable)
If your warmer uses a light bulb:
- Remove the wax dish from the top
- Look inside for the bulb socket
- Screw the included bulb in clockwise until snug
- Replace the dish on top
Element warmers don't have bulbs — skip this step if yours has a flat heating plate inside.
Step 3: Choose Your Location
Place your warmer on a flat, stable surface near an outlet. For the best fragrance distribution:
- Near a doorway or high-traffic area
- On a shelf or table at about waist to chest height
- Away from the edge where it could be knocked over
- On a heat-safe surface (the bottom of the warmer gets slightly warm)
Step 4: Add Your Wax
Break 1-2 cubes from your Scentsy wax bar and place them in the warmer dish. Don't overfill — 1 cube for small rooms, 2 for larger spaces. You can always add more later.
Step 5: Turn It On
Plug in your warmer and switch it on (if it has a switch). Within 10-15 minutes, the wax will begin to melt and release fragrance. You'll notice the scent gradually filling the room over the next 20-30 minutes.
Step 6: Enjoy
That's it! Your warmer will continue to release fragrance as long as it's on. When you leave the room or go to bed, simply turn it off or unplug it. The wax will solidify and can be remelted next time — it retains its fragrance through multiple melt cycles until the scent is spent.
First-Timer Tips
- Start with one cube — You can always add more if the scent is too subtle
- Give it 30 minutes — The full scent throw takes a little time to develop
- Don't add water — The dish is for wax only
- It's safe to leave on — Scentsy warmers are designed for extended use, but turning them off when you're away saves energy and extends wax life
- You'll know when to change wax — When you stop smelling the fragrance, it's time for fresh cubes
Welcome to the Scentsy family. Your home is about to smell amazing — and you'll never go back to regular candles.
